Inspiring, enthusing and entertaining children through literature and the arts...

WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE!

Over the last 11 years we've brought many of the country’s best-loved authors and illustrators to Shrewsbury and witnessed the magical effect these visits have - bringing the world of books alive for children and young people of all ages.

Find out who's coming to this year's Shrewsbury May Bookfest and our Authors in Schools Week - and take part in our exciting new venture: the Shrewsbury Bookfest Book Award.

WORLD BOOK DAY AUTHORS ARE COMING TO SHREWSBUJRY!

We’re delighted that 4 of the authors of the £1 World Book Day books will be visiting Shrewsbury in the next few weeks to take part in Bookfest events.

Kaye Umansky will be visiting two local schools during Authors in Schools Week. She’s written a new Pongwiffy story specially for World Book Day. It’s published as a flipover book with another hilarious Grubtown Tale by Philip Ardagh. Philip will be presenting his fun-filled Henry’s House Roadshow at the Shrewsbury May Bookfest.

We’re very excited to be welcoming two of the biggest names in teenage fiction to the May Bookfest – Sophie McKenzie and Chris Higgins. Their World Book Day flipover book includes the latest instalment in Sophie McKenzie’s gripping and hugely popular Medusa Project series and Walking the Walls by Chris Higgins.
