How did we choose the Shortlist?

Groups of children from 6 local primary schools read and commented on a list of nearly 50 titles nominated for the Award by ten of the major children’s publishers. Using their comments,
the Book Award Steering Group – which includes the LEA’s Primary Schools Improvement Consultant in English, a primary school literacy coordinator, representatives from library services, a local author, a local bookseller and representatives from Bookfest – drew up a Shortlist of the best 6 titles.
