SHREWSBURY BOOKFEST BOOK AWARD 2012
Shortlist titles revealed...
Following the huge success of the first ever Shrewsbury Bookfest Book Award in 2010, we are delighted to be launching the shortlist for the Bookfest Book Award 2012.
A staggering 60 titles submitted for the longlist have been read and discussed by Year 5 and 6 children in seven Shropshire primary schools. The shortlist represents those that the children feel will appeal most widely to other 9-11-year-olds and will cater for a range of reading abilities.
More than 700 children in 23 schools across Shropshire are taking part in the Book Award – to see the full list of schools. Copies of the shortlisted titles were delivered to them at the beginning of January. They now have until to vote for their three favourite titles. The winner will be announced at the Bookfest Book Award Ceremony in Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn on Thursday 26th April.
You can borrow the books and vote through your local library. All libraries across Shropshire have copies of the shortlist titles. Please ask at the information desk for a voting card and make sure you post it into the Bookfest Ballot Box. All votes need to be placed before Friday 23rd March 2012. The winner will be announced through the Shrewsbury Children's Bookfest website on Thursday 26th April.
