Dan Freedman

Dan Freedman, an editor at the Football Association for six years, came to Shrewsbury Children’s Bookfest for his first visit on Saturday 3 May. Dan has worked as a journalist for the Sunday Times, GCap Media, BBC Current Affairs, Radio Five Live and LBC.

Young football enthusiasts from across Shrewsbury came to the Sports Village in Sundorne, kitted out and eager to share their love of football. Dan's video interviews with football stars such as Wayne Rooney and David Beckham impressed the children. The audience then had the opportunity to quiz Dan and share their knowledge and views on the game and its stars.

His lucky audience were also the first to hear an extract from the sequel Shoot to Win, hot off the press and published that weekend. All the children left loaded with books, keen to re-immerse themselves in their dreams of becoming a football hero.

What the audience said:

"It was the best thing I have ever done."

"I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the books."
