Event synopsis

1. Illustration workshops (Years 3 to 6):
Lynne talks about what it's like to be an illustrator. She explains how a picture book comes about. She reads one of her stories and shows original artwork and sketched roughs; then the children can ask questions. This is followed by a brainstorming session to generate illustration ideas. The children then create illustrations of their own on a theme linked to the story.
Ideal audience size – 30 children

 2. Writing Workshops (Years 3 to 6)
Works best with 90 mins - 2 hours.
Lynne begins by talking about what it's like to be a writer and illustrator. She explains how a picture book comes about and reads and analyses one of her books with the children. She then brainstorms with the group and, through a series of imagination exercises, creates characters for the children to write about and ideas for taking their stories in unexpected directions.
Ideal audience size – 30 children

 3. Storytelling (Reception to Year 2)

One of Lynne’s favourites! Lynne will need a minimum of 45 minutes, but with 90 minutes you can have even more fun. Given time, she reads two different stories. She will draw funny animal pictures for the children to guess and keep. The children sing and Lynne is generally rather silly. Midway, there’s a break for the children to draw something related to the stories. Lively, noisy and fun!
Suitable for up to 60 children
