During the Autumn term of 2017, Year 6 children from 7 primary schools in Shropshire were tasked with reading a long-list of 55 books that were submitted by leading publishers, as part of Shrewsbury Bookfest’s Big Book Award 2018 project.
This book, suitable for children aged between 9 and 11, was enthusiastically put forward by pupils from Much Wenlock Primary School in Shropshire as a hot contender for the shortlist. It was highly recommended by the children and so we thought we’d share this valuable information with you:
About the Book:
Matthew Corbin suffers from severe obsessive-compulsive disorder. He hasn’t been to school in weeks. He refuses to leave his bedroom. To pass the time, he observes his neighbours from his bedroom window. When a toddler staying next door goes missing, it becomes apparent that Matthew was the last person to see him alive.
Suddenly, Matthew finds himself at the centre of a high-stakes mystery, and every one of his neighbours is a suspect. Matthew is the key to figuring out what happened and potentially saving a child’s life, but is he able to do so if it means exposing his own secrets, and stepping out from the safety of his home?
Nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2018.
